About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester, OK and serves as an Information Technology Specialist (NETWORK) coordinating and integrating technical aspects of Information Technology within Installation requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Experience configuring hubs, switches, or routers; Experience monitoring network performance; and Experience performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, or mitigation of network related issues using a multitude of tools/techniques.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Installation, maintenance, testing, evaluation, and repair of local and campus area networks, advanced network communication devices and equivalent media links.
  • Diagnose and resolve network problems.
  • Program, install, uninstall, upgrade, and maintain cryptographic devices in support of Secure Internet Protocol Router Network.
  • Provide technical guidance and assist customers in installing applications and troubleshooting issues.
  • Use analysis results to determine ways to improve network link relocation and modification.
