Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5827200 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately.

Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats.

Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.

Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels.

Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level (GS-11). Must have 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level (GS-9).

Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; Ability to develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.

Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.

Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), Security Program Integration Professional Certification (SPIPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.

The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

Major Duties:

As a GS-0080-11, Information Security Specialist, you will administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)-associated security programs and measures and provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security.
