Job Description
Summary
This job involves overseeing a factory operation inside a prison, where you'll manage inmate workers, coordinate with contractors to meet production goals, and ensure everything runs safely and efficiently.
You'll also train staff and inmates in useful skills for life after release.
It's a good fit for someone with experience in manufacturing or program management who is organized, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a correctional environment.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with relevant program experience, OR associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience, OR high school diploma with 4 years relevant experience
- Ability to manage multi-shift operations and supervise 60+ inmate workers
- Experience coordinating with contractors and institutional personnel to meet production requirements
- Skills in selecting, training, and evaluating personnel
- Knowledge of establishing quality control programs and waste management
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment per state and OSHA standards
- Successful completion of 4 weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire
Full Job Description
Manages a potential multi-shift operation located within Perry Correctional Institution (Pelzer).
Coordinates with contractor to ensure production requirements are met.
Provides services in the most efficient and economical manner while supervising/teaching inmates skills that can be utilized upon their release.
Select, train and evaluate personnel.
Establish an effective quality control program with proper waste control.
Maintains a work environment that is safe and healthy in accordance with state and OSHA requirements.
Directs the attendance of 60+ inmate workers and prepares the necessary reports.
Coordinates activities with the contractor, institutional personnel and industries.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
