Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an industrial specialist at a naval foundry and propeller center, where you'll provide technical advice on maintaining and upgrading factory facilities, equipment, and processes to keep production running smoothly.

You'll coordinate with teams and contractors on projects, monitor progress, and help solve issues like delays or shortages in materials.

It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in industrial operations, project management, and technical support in manufacturing or engineering settings.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST in the Facilities Engineering Branch (Code 1460.2), Technical Support Division (Code 1460), Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical expertise on the sustainment and modernization of industrial facility infrastructure and systems to maintain operational efficiency and compliance; Experience coordinating with contractors, service providers, other departments, and governmental agencies to manage facility related projects; Experience conducting quality assurance on drawings, specifications, and cost estimates relating to routine maintenance, emergent repair, and overhaul of industrial building systems; Experience managing, planning and executing assigned projects and maintaining accountability during project lifecycle; Experience applying practical knowledge and gathering pertinent data when developing project scope of work and technical documents.

GS-11.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

  • You will evaluate new or modified equipment and processes to determine their potential effect upon the NFPCs mission.
  • You will advise about industrial facilities, materials and methods to engineers, technicians and production controllers who plan, coordinate and report on the scheduling, production and delivery of cast metal items and propellers produced.
  • You will advise managers, supervisors and technical personnel on the solution of any production problems which may arise.
  • You will serve as a source of production and delivery intonation for higher-level managers and customers on the resolution of such problems for assigned projects.
  • You will perform surveillance and follow-up on production progress to locate actual and potential delays.
  • You will assist in resolving problems of critical shortages in materials, components, machine tools and production equipment and recommends methods of accelerating production.
