Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves assessing and managing workplace health risks in a naval medical unit in Bahrain, such as identifying hazards from noise, chemicals, and other sources, and recommending ways to protect workers.
You'll conduct inspections, monitor exposures, and advise on safety measures to keep everyone healthy and compliant with standards.
It's a good fit for someone with experience in occupational health who enjoys fieldwork and problem-solving in a military environment.
You will serve as an Industrial Hygienist in the Industrial Hygiene Program Office (IHPO) of US NMRTU BAHRAIN.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.
Conducting industrial hygiene protocols such as, inspections, surveys, and evaluations to identify health hazards and ensure compliance with occupational health standards; AND 2.
Evaluating safety protocols such as, exposure monitoring plans, managing equipment, and reviewing sampling results, to maintain compliance with health and safety standards; AND 3.
Recommending engineering controls and medical surveillance programs to mitigate hazards such as, noise, chemical, and physical hazards in device control measures; AND 4.
Providing occupational health consultations to advise on respiratory protection and chemical handling safety procedures; AND 5.
Documenting environmental conditions and exposures such as, shop inspections, Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs), and surveys in an Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness system such as DOEHRS-IH SYSTEM, to support accurate assessments and recordkeeping to ensure the health readiness of workforce.
