  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, random drug/alcohol testing, and public safety background investigation
  • Availability for on-call rotation, emergency after-hours, weekends, and holidays

Job Description

The HVAC Controls Tech performs installation, maintenance, testing and repairing of building automation systems.

The HVAC Controls Tech Senior also investigates malfunctioning HVAC equipment and systems to determine the cause of the problems and its solutions.

This position may serve as a lead to staff and will coordinate work with contractors.

Essential Duties
  • Serving as a lead to staff to include training, assigning and monitoring work, and providing instruction
  • Observing and coordinating with contractors for installations, maintenance and minor repairs
  • Investigating malfunctioning HVAC equipment and systems
  • Determining the cause of problems and performing efficient repairs
  • Performing preventative maintenance and repairs to all levels of HVAC systems, including Building Automation Control Systems
  • Implementing solutions within a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Designing, fabricating, and installing customized HVAC systems
  • Responding to emergency calls for various types of HVAC failures
  • Preparing records and reports
  • Assessing and replenishing the inventory of HVAC equipment and materials
  • Providing input for annual budget preparation
  • Researching and providing recommendations on new technologies and equipment
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • Pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Public safety background investigation which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
  • On-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is B25(3) and C41(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
HVAC Tech B25(3) - $63,017 - $100,827
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years of progressively responsible residential and commercial experience
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Georgia State Conditioned Air Contractor Class I (restricted) license
  • Valid Driver's License
HVAC Tech Sr. C41(3) - $68,534 - $113,081
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six years of progressively responsible residential and commercial experience
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Georgia State Conditioned Air Contractor Class II (unrestricted) license
  • Valid Driver's License
