Full Job Description

You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (RECRUITMENT/CLASSIFICATION) within IMMEDIATE OFC OF CHIEF OF NVL OPS.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Administering DON civilian human resources management programs; 2) Carrying out HR functions related to staffing, compensation, or classification in accordance with DON policies; 3) Interpreting DON guidance and applying laws and regulations related to the staffing function; 4) Interpreting and applying classification standards/guides to reach sound classification decisions; 5) Providing guidance on approaches to pay and compensation; and6) Providing strategic HR advice and guidance to senior management in order to execute HR plans to support the DON mission.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide human resources management advisory services to mangers, supervisors, and employees of assigned organizations in the areas of staffing and classification, pay and salary administration, and personnel policies and trends.
  • You will perform classification analysis and provide classification advisories on positions in assigned organizations including clerical, wage grade, technical, professional, engineering and managerial.
  • You will utilize expert knowledge of laws, principles, and practices of human resources management in the federal sector with emphasis on recruitment and placement, classification, and position management.
  • You will resolve complex issues in such areas of employment eligibility, qualifications determinations, and pay setting.
  • You will advise managers on available and appropriate staffing methods to meet their recruitment and placement needs.
