Full Job Description

This position is part of the Department of Energy's Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Office of Human Resources Operations and Client Services (OHROCS).

As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification), you will provide technical advice and assistance in position classification and position management to all levels of management.

GS-13 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting all of the following: Evaluating and classifying a variety of positions across different occupational series and grades, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Developing, interpreting, and applying human resources policies, guidelines, and procedures related to classification and position management.

Providing technical advice and consultation to management and stakeholders on job analysis, position descriptions, organizational structures, and the impact of classification decisions.

GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting all of the following: Providing advice and recommendations to management and employees on complex position classification matters, including resolving classification discrepancies or appeals.

Developing and writing clear, concise, and defensible position descriptions that accurately reflect duties, responsibilities, and supervisory relationships.

Utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills to research, interpret, and apply classification standards to a variety of positions. Limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages.

Proactively manage workload, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of HR classification actions, adhering strictly to federal rules and departmental procedures.

Analyze controversial classification situations, gather pertinent data, evaluate alternative courses of action, and provide authoritative advice to management on final decisions, considering organizational impact.
