This job is for a Human Resources Specialist in the U.S.
Department of Justice, based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where you'll handle everyday HR tasks like hiring, employee training, benefits, and performance reviews for government attorneys' offices.
It involves solving common HR problems and following federal rules to support staff in these offices.
A good fit would be someone with a couple of years of HR experience or a relevant graduate degree, who enjoys detail-oriented work in a structured government environment.

GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level; or education or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below.
Specialized experience is defined as experience resolving procedural and/or recurring human resources related issues; applying standardized analytical and evaluation techniques; and interpreting regulatory material related to two of the following human resources specialty areas: recruitment and placement, personnel security, human resource development, employee benefits, performance management, and employee compensation.
Education : One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Human Resources Management, Business Administration): a master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.

At the full performance level, you will provide a variety of human resources management services in two or more of the following functional areas: recruitment and placement, personnel security, human resource development, employee benefits, performance management, and employee compensation.
Duties include: Preparing appropriate recruitment documents and posting vacancy announcements; Reviewing applications and applying qualification standards; Preparing pre-employment security packages, to include obtaining necessary documents; Coordinating all training nominations and providing training guidance to staff; Providing assistance in the administration of benefits programs; Providing advice and assistance on performance management; and Providing advice on basic pay, premium pay, and leave administration laws and regulations.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
