Job Description

Summary

This job is about helping with hiring and placing civilian employees at a U.S.

Space Force base in California, including managing job openings, processing paperwork, and using computer systems for personnel tasks.

It supports over half of its time on roles related to acquiring equipment and services for the military.

A good fit would be someone organized with office experience, comfortable with databases and typing, and interested in government HR support.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-4 level or equivalent, such as administrative support using databases for personnel programs
  • Knowledge of recruitment, placement rules, procedures, and operations for filling clerical and administrative positions
  • Proficiency in DCPDS (Defense Civilian Personnel Data System) for data input, storage, retrieval, and quality review
  • Skilled in office automation software (e.g., word processing) to create reports, letters, memos, graphs, and spreadsheets
  • Qualified typist with ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Four years of education above high school in business, secretarial, or technical fields (or combination of education and experience)
  • Experience with documentation for grievances, appeals, complaints, and monitoring suitability/security systems

The primary purpose of this position is to assist civilian employees on an AF installation on issues involving recruitment and placement, position management and related law, regulations, policies, practices, and precedent.

Position involves 51% or more of time in support of acquisition positions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 203 Series SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower band/grade (NK-01/GS-04) or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes providing administrative support to the organization by using a variety of databases in support of personnel programs.

Experience with documentation and reports in regards to processing of grievances, appeals, or complaints.

Experience with multiple office automation software to generate reports, graphs, or spreadsheets.

OR EDUCATION: Completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of an extensive body of recruitment and placement rules, procedures, and operations to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard support work assignments involved in the fill of a variety of lower-graded clerical, administrative, technician, and semi-skilled wage grade positions.

Knowledge of the DCPDS to input, store, retrieve data and perform quality review of data elements.

Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual, such as letters, reports, memos and form letters.

Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major Duties:

Performs the full range of tasks in filling positions. Serves as civilian personnel alternate point of contact for assigned units. Initiates and monitors the suitability and security automated systems.

Performs a variety of recruitment and placement support duties. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of document, formats, etc.
