Job Description

Summary

This job is for a Human Resources Assistant at a military medical facility in Tacoma, Washington, where you'll help support the team's efforts to manage civilian staff by handling tasks like processing promotions, awards, and basic employee questions to improve hiring and keeping good people.

About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Administration, Human Resource Office, Location Tacoma Washington.

Responsible for providing support to the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) to execute core mission to optimize resources and civilian human capital while improving the recruitment and retention of civilian personnel within the MTF.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing two or more of the following, providing information on the Defense Management and Appraisal Program (DPMAP) and Civilian Awards Program, initiating or tracking personal actions (RPAs), such as reassignments, awards, training requests, promotions, and name changes, prepare length of service awards or assisting employee with basic HR inquiries or documents.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration and Public Management.

NOTE: (You must provide a copy of your Transcript) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

  • Primary point of contact and representative for the Military Treatment Facility civilian awards program.
  • Provide administrative management of the Defense Management and Appraisal Program (DPMAP).
  • Conduct individual and group in processing for new Military Treatment Facility civilian employees.
  • Use office automation software such as word processors, databases, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing programs.
