Full Job Description
Serves as a heavy equipment operator on the Hot Crew, and operates complex duty motorized equipment such as, but not limited to, combination backhoe, front end loader, and road patcher, truck mounted, lowboy truck tractor, and motor grader to perform required maintenance to roadways. Supports foreman, directly or indirectly, in daily safe work practices. This includes, but is not limited to Flagging Operations, PPE, Vehicle Safety, CDL Inspections, Hazardous Material, Waste, Etc. Operates and maintains motorized equipment such as forklift and skid skeer loader to perform maintenance to roadways. Assists with inclement weather operations, may include operation of (medium and heavy) equipment and being available for extended working hours and/or 12 hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements
One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
