Full Job Description
Operates and maintains medium motorized equipment on the Drainage Crew, such as but not limited to, Aggregate Spreader, Belt Loader, Combination Tractor with Side Mounted Mower, Large Roller > 4 Tons, Skid Steer Loader, and Tandem Dump Truck in the maintenance of highways. Performs manual labor in the building of catch basins and other drainage structures, placing concrete for curbs and raised medians. Assists laying pipes, placing base material and asphalt for driveway construction. Assists in the operation of a backhoe used during various phases of maintenance work such as clearing of R/W, drainage maintenance, material moving, etc. Perform traffic controls operations for work zones, to include flagging traffic for the safety of the crew and the public, during various phases of roadway maintenance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements
Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
