Job Description
Summary
This job involves maintaining highways by operating small equipment like dump trucks and tools to handle tasks such as clearing vegetation, picking up litter and debris, and removing snow and ice from roads.
Workers also set up traffic controls, direct traffic as a flagger, and assist during emergencies or bad weather, which may require long shifts.
It's a good fit for someone who is physically fit, enjoys outdoor work, and is willing to get a commercial driver's license quickly.
Key Requirements
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- Obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, stooping, climbing, and walking on rough terrain
- Comfort working near moving traffic and in outdoor environmental hazards
- Availability for extended hours, 12-hour shifts, and work outside normal schedule, especially during inclement weather
- No minimum education or experience required
