Full Job Description
Operates 5 yard standard dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, and other materials and debris. Operates small equipment such as brush chipper, 4 ton roller, self contained sweeper tractor with broom, 10' tractor with mower in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations and standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader or brine sprayer for removal of snow and ice from highways. Performs manual labor in a variety of activities associated with repair and preservation of state highway roads and bridges. Operates heavier equipment such as front end loaders, tractor with ditcher, boom mowers and backhoes. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
