Full Job Description

About the Position: This position is located in the Wellness Center and supports the delivery of comprehensive health promotion and wellness services.

Incumbent provides technical and administrative support, under the supervision of Wellness Center leadership, to assist in coordinating health promotion activities, managing appointments, maintaining supplies, and ensuring proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of equipment.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: presenting formal health education classes in various settings to include classroom, promotional events, briefings or activities; performing administrative duties to include appointment setting and data collections; and assisting in data collection to generate reports..

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as exercise science, physiology, kinesiology, sports science, health education, wellness or health promotion.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Provides health education instruction, advice to individuals or groups, and advisement to managers and leaders on creating supportive healthy environments
  • Supports and schedules Wellness Center appointments and classes by processing medical referrals, command referrals, and self referral clients
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, forms, and educational materials by monitoring stock levels and ensuring availability to support program operations
  • Conducts health and biometric screenings, including VO2 max and metabolic testing, BOD POD in order to obtain readings and to recognize situations requiring maintenance
  • Explains health and wellness assessment preparation guidelines by ensuring patients are properly informed and directed to the correct treatment facility
  • Prepares instructional materials and class resources such as brochures, pamphlets, audiovisual products, and after-action reports
