Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading and managing tobacco prevention programs, including overseeing a quitline service for helping people stop smoking, handling budgets and vendor contracts, and connecting resources to improve community health.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university
  • Four years of full-time (or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer) experience in a technical or program area related to health promotion or chronic disease prevention
  • Substitution: Additional relevant experience can replace the degree on a year-for-year basis
  • Substitution: Post-graduate education (15 semester hours = 1 year of experience) in a related field
  • Three years of full-time or equivalent experience in the Health and Human Resources series can substitute for the required training and experience
  • Ability to manage grants, budgets, vendor agreements, and program reporting

Full Job Description

1 VACANCY
KANAWHA COUNTY

This position provides overall leadership, direction, guidance, program planning, management and administration of all Health Promotion and Chronic Disease’s (HPCD) funded Tobacco prevention efforts.

This position involves various duties such as managing the Quitline vendor agreement which includes selecting services, budgeting, reporting, approving expenditures, and other grants management duties as needed.

This position will also align goals and activities toward improved health and increased access to cessation services and other tobacco prevention efforts.

Provide technical assistance to partners and other organizations about Quitline services internally and externally.

This position will also work to connect people, programs and resources related to Quitline services and other tobacco prevention efforts.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
Substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Four years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.
Substitution: Post-graduate education in a field related to the technical or program area may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one year of experience.



Additional Information

Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the Health and Human Resources series may substitute for the required training and experience.
