Summary

This job involves keeping parks and athletic fields clean and safe by mowing grass, applying treatments to plants, fixing equipment, and picking up litter, while also helping visitors and youth sports groups.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • For Associate II: Two years of grounds maintenance experience
  • For Associate II: Valid driver's license
  • For Associate II: CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to operate tractors, zero-turn mowers, and small engine equipment like blowers and trimmers
  • Knowledge of turf maintenance, herbicide and fertilizer application, and irrigation systems
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and work after hours, weekends, or holidays

Job Description
This Grounds Maintenance Associate will be responsible for landscaping duties, janitorial duties, and litter collection. The position also requires assisting and providing customer service to Youth Athletic Associations and park users.

Essential Duties
  • Maintaining turf (natural and synthetic) on athletic fields, dragging baseball field infields, changing home plates and base anchors
  • Inspecting park assets including playgrounds for safety standards
  • Applying herbicides (pre- and post-emergents) and fertilizers
  • Operating irrigation systems and performing minor repairs
  • Maintaining passive areas
  • Operating tractors and commercial zero turn mowers
  • Operating small engine equipment (backpack blowers, edgers, and string trimmers)
  • Performing preventative maintenance and performing repairs on equipment, chain link fencing/gates
  • Reporting incidents to leadership
  • Providing maintenance reports

  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grounds Maintenance Associate I
Grade
Salary: $40,000. The grade for this position is A12(2).

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

Grounds Maintenance Associate II
Grade
Salary: $42,000. The grade for this position is A13(2).

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of grounds maintenance experience
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Driver's license
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
