Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-11 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.
Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience.
Specialized experience includes: Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to requests for information made by first parties, third parties, or other government entities.
Researching information systems and/or record sets to locate documents responsive to requests for information.
Reviewing responsive records, identifying information that is not releasable, drafting response correspondence to requesters, and assembling release packages. Major Duties:
As a GOVERNMENT INFORMATION SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties: - Independently process requests for personnel security records.
- Review responsive records, withholding information that is exempt from disclosure according to applicable FOIA, Privacy, and other regulations.
- Provide response to individuals and other government agencies regarding actions taken.
- Provide customer service by addressing inquiries from internal and external requesters, their representatives, and other Federal agencies about FOI/PA procedures and processes.
- Perform records management activities for closed cases, including maintaining a records inventory.
