Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing the ordering, delivery, and inspection of materials needed to repair and maintain ships in a naval shipyard, ensuring everything arrives on time to keep projects on schedule.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST in the MATERIAL SOURCING DIVISION, SUPPLY & LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: planning and coordinating a material management program (e.g.

ordering, expediting, receiving and inspecting supplies) to support production schedules.

  • You will be responsibility to ensure all material required for the repair and alteration of ships during availability are ordered, expedited, received, and inspected to support production schedules.
  • You will be supporting the execution of the logistics of material, tools and consumable handling from job planning to job execution but may be extended to other related work but may be extended to other related work.
  • You will evaluate the efficiency of the shipyard material management and supply programs supporting the shipyard workload which cover a wide span of supply and acquisition processes and procedures.
  • You will ensure that the shipyard’s non-standard requirements align with DLA and NAVSUP WSS acquisition requirements, meeting Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) requirements.
  • You will perform liaison with the supply chain including Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Naval Supply Systems command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) and private industry for ensuring materials are available.
  • You will develop and execute the planning and coordination of complex material management plans for assigned projects.
