Job Description
Summary
This job involves leading construction and renovation projects at South Carolina Department of Corrections facilities, including supervising inmate work crews to build and maintain structures like metal buildings and concrete foundations.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in various construction tasks who is organized, comfortable working in a secure environment, and able to handle planning and estimating materials.
You'll need to complete basic training after being hired to learn department procedures.

Responsible for construction and renovation of existing and new SCDC facilities.
Must have an extensive working knowledge of principles and techniques of building codes and reading blueprints.
Responsible for supervision of an inmate work crew.
Knowledge of metal building erection and knowledge of forming and pouring of concrete.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and five (5) years of experience in all phases of construction field with knowledge of South Carolina Procurement Regulations.
