Full Job Description

Operates 5 yard standard dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, dirt, pipe, construction materials, and debris. Operates dump truck with snow plow and sand spreader or brine applicator during snow/ice operations. Performs manual labor in various maintenance operations such as patching potholes, paving driveways, clearing right-of-ways, tree removal, cleaning out drainage ditches, and repair of shoulders of roadway. Operates small equipment such as 4 ton roller, self contained sweeper tractor with broom, or brush chipper. Operates medium equipment such as trailer mounted injection patcher, tandem dump truck, and large roller. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
