Full Job Description

Serve as a senior Program / Project Manager in the Engineering and Test Directorate at the Stennis Space Center.

Responsible for the overall technical and administrative direction of assigned projects and interfacing with both Governmental agencies and Commercial customers.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work.

The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Serving as a project manager with the responsibility for the overall technical and administrative direction of the program or project task; Collaborating with government and commercial customers to achieve project goals or objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner; and Participating in design reviews, contract/task order negotiations, and commercial agreements and business discussions related to project execution.

  • Provide management and engineering leadership, resources, and guidance to ensure SSC test complex assets and support facilities are operated, utilized, and continuously improved to support SSC’s propulsion test mission.
  • Coordinate and integrate within Engineering and Test Directorate in resolving conflicts between assigned projects, and other institutional, infrastructure, or programmatic priorities.
  • Implement customer-requested changes in a timely and professional manner in accordance with NASA processes and inform customers of significant cost, schedule, or technical changes or risks.
  • Inform management of significant cost, schedule, or technical changes or risks and provide requested information on schedule, cost, technical requirements, and risk.
  • Manage the integrated NASA/contractor workforce to effectively support projects within established cost and schedule constraints.
  • Support the vision and the mission of the Director in the accomplishment of the center’s, NASA’s, and our Nation’s goals.
