Job Description

Summary

This engineering role with the U.S.

Navy involves planning, supporting, and troubleshooting temporary shipboard facilities and structures, especially for submarine and submersible systems like the Advanced SEAL Delivery System.

It requires hands-on technical work such as coordinating installations, repairs, and evaluations to ensure everything runs smoothly on naval vessels.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (basic requirement for GS-0801 series)
  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level (for GS-12) or GS-09 level (for GS-11), including work with Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS) vehicles, interfaces, and support equipment
  • Experience formulating solutions to complex engineering problems in mechanical/marine, electrical, structural, or industrial fields
  • Knowledge of submarine or submersible systems operations and maintenance
  • Skills in conducting technical reviews and evaluations of design proposals from contractors
  • Ability to plan, budget, design, and execute engineering programs and projects
  • Proficiency in ship checks, calculations, troubleshooting, and recommending repairs or modifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience working with Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS) vehicles, ASDS host interface, and ASDS support equipment.

* Experience formulating solutions to complex engineering problems emphasized in mechanical/marine, electrical, structural or industrial engineering.

* Experience conducting technical review and evaluation of design proposals submitted by outside organizations or contractors.

GS-0801-11 IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (see Education section),Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with the operation and maintenance of submarine/submersible systems.

* Experience providing technical support for Advanced SEAL Delivery System mobility activities. * Experience planning, budgeting, designing, and carrying out various programs and projects.

  • You will be responsible for advanced planning and direct waterfront support for assigned temporary shipboard facilities and structural services.
  • You will be responsible for technical work documents, status and technical reports, correspondence, schedules and milestones for assigned services.
  • You will coordinate all fabrication, test, installation, removal, restoration and repair planning and waterfront efforts on assigned temporary shipboard facilities and structural services.
  • You will oversee and perform ship checks; perform calculations; troubleshoot problems and recommend repairs, replacements, and modifications; review and evaluate tests for structural requirements.
