Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading engineering teams to design, acquire, and maintain complex diving and hyperbaric systems for the Navy, ensuring they are safe and reliable throughout their lifecycle.

You'll manage budgets, provide technical advice to various organizations, and support fleet operations with maintenance procedures.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Diving Programs Division of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.

Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level/pay band NH-03 (GS-13) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer leading multi-disciplinary teams within military and federal operations to ensure system safety, reliability, and effectiveness for the full lifecycle of complex diving and hyperbaric systems engineering projects.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as Program Engineer and NAVSEA Technical Warrant Representative for multiple assigned diving systems.
  • You will manage and develop technical requirements for all aspects of new diving system and equipment acquisition.
  • You will develop budget input for all assigned systems and execute same for system acquisition and life-cycle support.
  • You will analyze top level goals and objectives, plans and missions' statements, both short and long range, to ensure that the individual program plans are responsive to and consistent with higher level direction.
  • You will conduct and direct engineering analysis and feasibility studies of ship-installed, portable, and diver worn diving systems and equipment.
  • You will provide in-service engineering and logistic support to fleet diving commands by directing and managing the development and dissemination of maintenance, testing and overhaul procedures and policy for diving equipment and systems.
  • You will provide advice and guidance to other Navy organizations, Government agencies, state/local governments, foreign governments, and industry on wide range of diving issues to ensure all decisions made and actions taken are technically sound.
  • You will participate in panels, committees, and boards to review and evaluate developments in the diving field or to present information about Division programs.
  • You will manage the development and revision of drawings, technical manuals, and other system documentation for all of the systems and equipment assigned.
