Summary

This role involves leading engineering efforts for naval air systems, including designing, planning, and managing the development of weapon systems to meet military needs.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Systems Engineering Department, Air Platform Systems Engineering Division, PEO (UW) Program Branch of SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12/13) grade level or (DP-04) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating experience serving as a Lead Systems Engineer or as a Lead Technical Domain Subject Matter Expert for assigned systems providing authoritative systems engineering or senior-level engineering technical domain input and advice to systems engineering and to the program management leadership.

2) Demonstrating experience leading the development and incorporation of Systems Engineering work products or technical domain work products required to satisfy, complement and inform System Acquisition program management process milestones, artifacts, strategic planning, risk characterization and decision making on major weapon systems.

3) Demonstrating experience leading or significantly master the incorporation and use of the various and broad resources to support engineering development, planning and testing for assigned systems.

4) Demonstrating experience leading engineering, technical, acquisition, and sustainment support personnel and teams.

  • You will serve as a member of the acquisition/management team for assigned projects/programs, developing and reviewing program technical and mission documentation (e.g., Operational Requirements, Systems Concept Paper).
  • You will participate in the development and design of new systems by assessing if available or imminent technology is sufficient to meet requirements or system concepts are applicable to fleet operational requirements.
  • You will formulate engineering design concepts and performance requirements which provide the basis for overall technical and engineering planning for the assigned system.
  • You will develop project planning objectives for current and long-range programs, maintaining knowledge of arid future capabilities, problems and demands upon the systems and provide overall planning for development, engineering, and evaluation.
  • You will integrate cost estimates with program plans (schedules, development requirements), test and evaluation requirements, projected problems, etc.) into a total acquisition POM and budget.
  • You will develop or direct development of contract engineering specifications which define system requirements and parameters, developing all engineering portions of Procurement Requests, Requests for Proposal, Requests for Quotations, etc.
  • You will provide direction to cognizant personnel in the planning and development of the Test and Evaluation Master Plan with regard to engineering and technical requirements and procedures.
  • You will conduct periodic system design reviews with representatives from NAVAIR operating groups, contractor personnel, representatives from CNO, Fleet and Support to ascertain the technical and financial status of the weapons system program.
