This job involves monitoring forest habitats across Pennsylvania's state game lands by identifying plants, collecting data in the field, and preparing reports to support wildlife conservation efforts.
You'll work full-time from a nursery in Centre County with lots of travel to remote sites, often independently but sometimes with a team.
It's a great fit for someone passionate about nature, comfortable outdoors, and eager to contribute to environmental protection through hands-on forestry work.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking for a Forester to work out of our Howard Nursery in Centre County.
In this role, you will complete a full-time, three-year term as part of our agency’s Treatment Monitoring program.
Do not miss this chance for your professional forestry work to contribute to our agency's progressive, scientifically based wildlife management programs.
We protect and conserve wildlife and their habitats while providing a host of benefits to wildlife, state residents, and visitors.
Take the next step in your Forestry career and be part of something bigger than yourself with our team!

As a Forester, you will participate in our Treatment Monitoring program to measure the outcomes of habitat treatment objectives across the entire State Game Land system.
This involves working out of our Howard Nursery in Centre County and frequent overnight travel depending on the location of field sites.
Your responsibilities will include identifying trees, shrubs, vines, and other forest vegetation, as well as using a compass, GPS, and other related equipment to identify ground features and relate them to maps.
After collecting habitat data, you will be expected to prepare appropriate reports.
You will also have the chance to assist in the management of data collected during field assessments and the development, planning, and implementation of strategies to effectively complete Treatment Monitoring projects.
While most work is completed independently, you will also collaborate with Regional Forestry staff and Forest Program Specialists as needed.
