As a Forest Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the forested areas on public lands distributed in eleven counties of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
This role currently oversees directing, monitoring, approving, and modifying activities of a crew consisting of two Forestry Regional Supervisors, four Field Foresters and four Forest Technicians.
Additionally, incumbents will oversee our internship program.Some duties of this position consist of oversight and collection of forest data for long-term management goals, considering the basic wildlife needs, watershed protection, unique or endangered flora and fauna, land features, multiple-use public concepts, and adjacent land use.
You will assess objectives and approve development plans with direct supervision of the implementation.
This role designs and approves operations of large-scale timber sales, fuel wood permit sales and salvage permits.
Incumbents perform various management duties, such as evaluating training, receiving grievances, investigating accidents, and reviewing reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bolivar. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
