  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC-CIP) certification for some assignments

Tacoma Power is seeking a talented individual to join its Rates and Forecasting team. As a Forecasting and Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to help lay the foundation for advanced customer analytics and help improve Tacoma Power's load forecasting capabilities.

Tacoma Power is seeking a talented individual to join its Rates and Forecasting team.

As a Forecasting Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to help lay the foundation for advanced customer analytics and help improve Tacoma Power's sales and revenue forecasting capabilities.

The Rates and Forecasting team develops and maintains a portfolio of high-visibility analytical models that directly influence Tacoma Power’s financial outlook and help ensure rates remain equitable and cost-effective for customers.

As the team continues to modernize and expand our toolset, we are upgrading several key modeling tools and processes.

These improvements will strengthen our ability to accurately forecast and uphold our commitment to providing rates that are fair, just, and reasonable.

  • Query, screen, validate, clean and organize large sets of our utility’s smart-meter and customer billing data
  • Analyze meter and billing data to identify anomalies and trends to support business decisions and provide customer insights
  • Automate data retrieval and build dashboards
  • Validate and reconcile meter data with billing systems
  • Develop electric usage forecasting models for different customer classes
  • Diagnose and interpret model output, perform sales variance analysis at the customer class level
  • Visualize data for technical documents and presentations
  • Research customer class load profiles to support cost-of-service analysis and other rates projects
  • Maintain and improve existing the existing econometric system load forecasting model
  • Support rate-making and long-term financial planning
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for customer load and sales analyses
  • Work on cross-functional teams on various projects related to customer load and rate-making
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to various stakeholders

Requirements

Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, economics, statistics, mathematics or directly related field

Minimum Experience*
4 years of experience in statistical analysis, data modeling or data analytics including 1 year prior at senior, lead and/or supervisory level

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements for some assignments:
North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection certification (NECC-CIP)



Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with managing and analyzing large, complex data sets; statistical modeling and data science, including econometric and machine learning modelling techniques.
  • Expertise in common programming languages such as SQL, Python and R.
  • Proficient with Excel, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Excellent communication skills and team-orientation.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Pay Details:

Annual Rate: $122,096.00 - $171,953.60
