Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Knowledge of procedures in preparing foods and understand food terminology, measurements, and serving information in standardized recipes and regular menus.
Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks.
Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures.
Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, and bend for long periods of time.
Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to communicate clearly and possess skill in dealing with public.
Position is a position of trust. Must satisfactory complete a local installation records check and a National Agency Checks.
Subject to work an irregular tour of duty, to include after normal duty hours, weekends, and holidays. Major Duties:
Performs a variety of food preparation tasks to assist cooks in the food preparation area by weighing, measuring, and assembling ingredients according to standardized recipes.
Prepares a variety of uncooked food items, ingredients, side items, and garnishments and other ingredients.
Assembles and tosses fresh fruit or green salads in quantity using prepared dressings, serves into standard serving sizes.
Removes items from the walk-in cooler and washes, peals, slices, seeds or mashes and delivers to kitchen for further processing.
Seasons and pans meats for roasting, breads and prepares chicken for frying. Slices cooked meats and prepares sandwiches.
Wraps, arranges and packages fruits, vegetables, bread and condiments for carry-out.
Prepares special salads, fruit trays, hors d' oeuvres, and desserts to accommodate unique groups, i.e., formal dining-ins, buffets and receptions.
Measures and mixes ingredients such as cooked potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, pickles, onions, mustard, mayonnaise, seasonings and canned tuna in preparing salads, such as potato salad, tuna salad, or deviled eggs, etc.
Prepares individual salads such as gelatin, fruit or tossed. Garnishes salads and delivers to kitchen/salad bar for serving.
Prepares customer areas, tables, and side service stands with items such as napkins, straws, cup lids, condiments, and utensils.
Maintains area in a neat and clean manner and replenishes items as necessary.
Operates a dishwasher or manually washing (scrapes, soaks, scours and scrubs) bowls, pots and pans, glassware, beverage makers (coffee urns), and other utensils.
Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as coffee machines; exhaust hoods; under and behind refrigerators/kitchen equipment or table areas; sweeping, washing, mopping and buffing floors, and washing walls; and sanitizes garbage cans.
May unload food from delivery trucks. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. As required, accepts and submits food orders from customers.
Operates a cash register, rings-up sales, and accept payments and processes changes to patrons. Prepares documentation for cash funds accountability and related cash records.
