Summary

This job is for a food service worker at a bowling center on an Air Force base in Georgia, where you'll prepare simple meals like sandwiches and salads, serve food in a cafeteria style, and handle cleaning and dishwashing tasks.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Bowling Center at Robins AFB. This position does not offer benefits.

Must be physically able to frequently lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to stand/walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.

Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete SERVSAFE food handler's training. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines such as slicers or dicers in a safe manner.

Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks.

Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Major Duties:

Washes, peels, slices vegetable and other food items. Prepares salad/sandwich items by adding lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other condiments as prescribed.

Slices cooked meats and prepares a variety of sandwiches to include hot and cold food items. Prepares pizza station items and prep work. Prepares condiment counter and dressings.

Ensures proper portion control.

Sets up cafeteria lines, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages.

Serves food cafeteria style. Breaks down and cleans area when meals are complete. Sets up dining room tables for service, places food and beverages on tables, and replenishes items as necessary.

Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours and scrubs bowls, pots and pans.

Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washes floors and walls, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, sanitizes garbage cans.

May unload food from delivery trucks and store in appropriate storage room area. Sweeps and mops floors as directed. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area.

Assembles and tosses fresh fruit or green salads in quantity using prepared dressings, serves into standard serving sizes. Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients.

Makes coffee, tea and other beverages. May assist in taking customer orders; may operate a cash register and receive payments for food items. Performs other related duties as assigned.
