This job involves preparing simple foods, serving meals to children, cleaning kitchen equipment and areas, and handling basic food service tasks at a Child Development Center on an Air Force base in Texas.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Child Development Center. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions. Be able to use hand tools for cleaning. and operate simple machines.

Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks.

Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lilt or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop. Reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.

Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Subject to satisfactory completion of National Agency Check. This is a random drug testing position.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements.

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation and food service areas. 1. Stocks carts with food and beverage items for room delivery.

Sets up for meal times by placing uniform portions of food on dishes. Picks up dishes when meals are complete and return food to kitchen.

Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours and scrubs bowls, pots, and pans.

Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washes floors and walls, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, sanitizes garbage cans.

May unload food from delivery trucks. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. 2.

Prepares simple food items such as pizza, breadsticks, and cheese toast for snacks and delivers to classrooms. Cuts up fruits and vegetables. Makes coffee, tea and other beverages.
