This seasonal job involves hands-on work outdoors at a fish hatchery, where you'll learn to care for fish by collecting breeding stock, stocking them in Pennsylvania's waters, and maintaining equipment and vehicles.
It's ideal for someone who enjoys physical labor in nature and wants to start in a state agency role that could become permanent after training and getting a commercial driver's license.
No prior experience is needed beyond high school, making it a good entry point for those interested in fisheries or environmental work.
Would you like physical work in the outdoors, for a state agency that provides fishing and boating opportunities for individuals and families in Pennsylvania's many lakes, river, and streams?
Would you be interested in a position that could turn into permanent employment after a successful training period (that includes obtaining a Commercial Driver's License)?
Then this may be the job for you!

In this position you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury and mortality.
You will learn to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition, and perform repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds.
