The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting
for a Fish and Wildlife Technician 2 located in King Salmon, Alaska!
What you will be doing:
This position will work at one of five counting tower projects on the eastside of Bristol Bay.
Responsibilities will include enumerating escapement of adult sockeye salmon and collection of biological (age, sex, & length) information from fish caught using a beach seine.
Other tasks will include camp and boat maintenance as well as other duties as assigned. This position will be staffed for a four to five week period within the window of June 12 to July 31.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position will be stationed at a remote field camp on the east side of Bristol Bay and will be asked to perform work duties in inclement weather.
The successful candidate must be willing to perform some duties on a counting tower at the height of up to 30 feet above the ground and be willing to work a rotating shift (day/swing/night), weekend, and holidays.
Who we are looking for:
Our ideal applicant will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies (If you have any experience with the following please document these in your application.

Experience with remote living conditions with two other crew members;
General familiarity with salmon;
Have some knowledge of operating skiffs and outboard motors;
General familiarity with firearms;
Be comfortable working at heights of up to 30 feet; and
Be comfortable working at all hours including swing and graveyard shifts.
