This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Central Office, 400 Otarre Parkway Cayce, SC 29033.

As the Fiscal Technician I, working under general supervision of the Center Administrator, you will process all service information associated with billing to ensure maximum recovery of revenue for the Center.

Responsibilities for the Fiscal Technician I:
  • Maximize center revenue by ensuring all claims are processed efficiently and within timely filing requirements. Manually key any claims that cannot be automatically uploaded for processing.
  • Resolve 3rd party payor denial/transfers within prescribed time frames. Research rejected claims and re-file with corrected information when appropriate.
  • Ensure that payments received from patients or payor sources are posted efficiently to the patient's account.
  • Assist clients with questions about their bill and setting up payment plans if appropriate. Respond to patient's questions about debt set off and update list as payments are made.
  • Complete all OMH required trainings and seeks opportunities to advance knowledge/skills related to job duties. Complete all SCOMH mandatory training in accordance with the required schedule.
  • Corporate Compliance - Ensure adherence to agency's Corporate Compliance Policies and Plan.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Due to the possibility of travel, employee must have a valid SC driver's license and be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 15lbs.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Information

Post hire, employees must have:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, auditing and bookkeeping.
  • Ability to engage with patients and provide exceptional customer service.

Position is essential and may be called back during a crisis/disaster/emergency.
