About the Position: This position is at the Financial Management division of the U.S. Naval Hospital, located a Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan.

Access to medical care may be severely limited in Japan for non-military personnel.

GS-08 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing two or more of the following: (1) examining financial records to resolve accounting transaction issues; and (2) examining accounting documentation for accuracy to ensure compliance with legal regulations; and (3) preparing recurring and non-recurring budget reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07 or above.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Coordinates with systems development personnel to locate and resolve accounting transaction problems in the various data bases utilized and accounting systems.
  • Examines accounts and resolves difficult reconciliations requiring an analysis of adjustments and corrective entries in the account.
  • Performs Technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods.
  • Examines documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulations for goods and services provided to or by the Government.
  • Determines pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government.
