About the Position: This position serves as a Financial Specialist for the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

The Army's Face to the World, the one-stop focal point for Army FMS, and the international partner of choice in U.S. Security Assistance.

Position may be filled as a temporary promotion NTE 4 years and may be made be made permanent. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Apply regulations associated with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) accounting and reporting systems; 2) Provide budget information to the assigned area and to other financial managers; 3) Analyze expense reports to ensure charges are authorized; AND 4) Determine the corrective action required through reconciliation of financial records.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Serve as an advisor with responsibility for directing the accomplishment of funding for prescribed programs.
  • Produce financial reports to submit for management approval.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial policies, systems, and proposed system changes that impact current operations.
  • Develop strategies to resolve financial problems affecting the organization's financial systems.
  • Provide technical advice to management of financial operations and make recommendations for corrective action.
