Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team that handles financial planning, budgeting, and advisory services for the Environmental Protection Agency's regional office in Chicago, helping guide decisions on resource use and cost management to support environmental protection efforts.
A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in high-level financial management, strong leadership skills, and a passion for public service in government or nonprofit settings.
The role requires on-site work and focuses on mission-critical programs under public scrutiny.
This position is in Region 5, Mission Support Division, Comptroller Branch. About: Region 5.
This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as providing expertise on financial programs to advise leaders on financial decisions and/or providing analysis on budgets or financial plans to guide resource allocation, cost control, or investment priorities.
You will be assessed on the following competencies: Human Capital Management. Financial Management and Analysis. Budget and Cost Management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

You will: Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the organizational unit to provide a range of financial services for management.
Represent the organizational unit and Agency with a variety of functional area financial services to other organizations.
Lead mission‐critical programs by planning, assigning, and reviewing work to fulfill the agency's mission under public and congressional scrutiny.
