Full Job Description

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized Experience is defined as: Performing extensive financial management analysis and evaluation of automated financial systems, governing policies, business procedures, and regulations to ensure the continuity of a financial organization's core operations.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a senior financial specialist in Enterprise Audit Services, Metrics and Initiatives Office utilizing authorized Agency Information and Technologies components for rapid visualization applications of Agency Operational Health.
  • Prepares briefs and coordinates visualization models in support of Mission Area Reviews for the management team in preparation of monthly Director of Operations and Initiatives briefings.
  • Performs unit testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of existing Cognos Analytics visualization models to ensure performance and quality changes to improve front-end user experiences.
  • Communicates effectively with cross-functional teams, including mission area business analysts, and provides change requirements to technical developers.
  • Identifies trends in performance statistics each month, and requests explanations from operational areas based on these trends to support Director of Operations Unity of Effort goals.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to metric trend analysis, work products, processes, and change management initiatives with new technologies.
