Job Description

Summary

This job involves advising on the day-to-day operations and upkeep of naval facilities, overseeing projects and contractors to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, and spotting issues in buildings or systems to recommend fixes.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the INFRASTRUCTURE SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a technical advisor on facilities operations and maintenance matters; 2) Monitoring and evaluating facility programs, projects, and contractor performance; 3) Reviewing facility plans, proposals, and cost estimates and providing recommendations; and 4) Conducting facility assessments and identifying deficiencies or problem areas.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as technical advisor on all operations and maintenance facility matters within the agency.
  • You will monitor and coordinate facility-operating programs/projects to measure progress toward reaching objectives effectively and economically including oversight of work performed by contractors.
  • You will identify actual or potential problem areas, trends, significant accomplishments, deficiencies, and areas of imbalance and make recommendations based on research findings.
  • You will develop, execute, analyze, and review facility plans, and review contractors requests for proposals and cost estimates.
  • You will review plans and designs/proposals for multi-year major repair projects, facilities improvements and projects to modify or initiate new projects.
  • You will gather information for management’s use in developing and carrying out various phases of programs and projects by conducting surveys and on-site investigations regarding facility adequacy.
  • You will plan, schedule, and execute complex movements of people and equipment to accomplish facility moves, construction, remodeling, and improvements.
  • You will review and analyze cost reports to assure charges are authorized and appropriate, and identify unauthorized charges and assure corrective actions are taken to correct inappropriate charges.
