Job Description
Summary
This job involves keeping a juvenile center's buildings and grounds in good shape by doing routine repairs and maintenance on things like heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as outdoor tasks like mowing and snow removal.
It also includes managing tools, supplies, and paperwork for the maintenance team.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in building trades who enjoys varied physical work and can handle general supervision.
Key Requirements
- Graduation from high school, GED, four-year apprenticeship, or two-year technical school (or equivalent experience in air-conditioning, heating, or refrigeration)
- Four years of paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation, or building trades like plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, welding, or mechanics
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Skills in carpentry, masonry, refrigeration, ventilation, and renovations
- Experience maintaining facility grounds, including mowing, trimming, and snow/ice removal
- Proficiency in maintaining inventories, logs, charts, and handling purchase orders
- Possible requirement for EPA certification as a refrigerant recycling technician under the Clean Air Act
Full Job Description
Under general supervision this position functions as a member of the maintenance department performing all general preventative maintenance.
Performs routine maintenance on all HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
Works in all areas of maintenance including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation, and renovations.
Maintains facility grounds to include mowing, trimming, snow and ice removal. Maintains detailed tool and supply inventories.
Responsible for maintaining various logs, charts, and completion of purchase orders for the department. Will perform other jobs as assigned.

Qualifications
Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school.Substitution: Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work.
Special Requirement: Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
