Summary

This job involves supporting the day-to-day operations of a healthcare facility by handling logistics, supplies, and building maintenance to keep things running smoothly for patient care.

About the Position: This position is located on the Forest Glen Campus in Silver Spring, MD. Position will be primarily in the logistics, facilities, and supply section.

Position will be primarily day shift, with occasional variance due to healthcare environment.

The applicant can expect to contribute to the clinical care of patients by assisting with a wide variety of logistics, facilities and supply duties. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 0730 - 1600.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the management of buildings and equipment to ensure suitability for daily operations; assisting with coordinating facility service contracts/contractors such as providing cost estimates for proposed services; tracking medical supply materials using automated purchase requisition systems; conducting physical inventory of accountable property; and assisting the Property Book Officer in maintaining property account records documentation.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Industrial Engineering.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Contract Management/Support Facilities Operations Management Program/Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Manage the maintenance, repairs, and modifications for the facility, medical maintenance equipment and grounds. Direct facilities management and maintenance operations exercising control and responsibility.
  • Monitor and track major/minor maintenance and repair projects. Ensure necessary maintenance, repairs, and modifications are accomplished for the facility, equipment, and utilized grounds.
  • Oversee the facility's budget and financial responsibilities as it pertains to equipment and space allocations.
  • Maintain inventory, property records, and function as purchase card holder.
  • Facilitate and identify space requirements to meet the changing space requirements of the JPC.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair projects with Department of Public Works and contractors.
  • Direct facilities management and maintenance operations exercising control and responsibility.
  • Prepare, revise, and review purchase description standards or specifications that form a part of commercial contracts for repair work or new procurement.
  • Recommend the need for facility service contracts and contractor.
  • Provide coordination and informational assistance to suppliers, users, and repairers of facility equipment and coordinate the procurement of equipment to relieve outages/damages.
