The Department of Agriculture’s Office of the Secretary is seeking an organized and confident professional who excels in a dynamic environment and enjoys playing a key role in significant projects.

Requirements

As an Executive Secretary 2, your role will involve supporting the Secretary and Executive Deputy Secretary with the daily functions of the Executive Office.

You will be responsible for organizing weekly staff meetings, which includes sending out sunshine notices, preparing and scheduling meeting notifications, setting deadlines for agenda submissions, reviewing the agenda materials, and forwarding relevant documents to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary for their consideration.

Additionally, you will attend all staff meetings to take official minutes, ensure that recommendations are implemented, keep track of ongoing issues for future discussions, and inform both industry and staff about approved decisions.

You will also handle the scheduling of conference calls and meetings as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in secretarial work. Appropriate formal post high school secretarial training may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to four years; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
