This role involves leading and managing the operations of the 37th Training Wing in the Air Force, acting as a top advisor to the commander on education and strategy while overseeing staff and resources.

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 37th Training Wing as Executive Director.
Serves in a key staff professional position as the top education and senior adviser to the 37th Training Wing Commander.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-14, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes (1)Expert knowledge of program goals and objectives, functions, operations, policies, procedures, practices, concepts and theories and ability to apply that knowledge to a variety of work situations at various levels within the command, AF, DoD, Joint and private industry collaborations; (2)Expert and comprehensive knowledge on the research, preparation and coordination of MAJCOM-level, and HAF-level staff work to plan, develop and program activities to meet AF and national defense objectives; (3) Ability to recommend and or make critical decisions affecting the course and development of plans and programs in support of the command and national security strategies.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.
Knowledge of Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, and Second Air Force, 502d Air Base Wing, 37th Training Wing policies and procedures, joint basing structure and management. 2.
Knowledge of Wing Staff Agency (Protocol, Plans/programs, Public Affairs, Financial Management, Safety) multi-service policies and processes, governance, and roles and responsibilities that provide data to command and control for the 37th Training Wing in a Joint Basing structure.
3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 4.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff functions; mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. 5.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Thorough knowledge of the mission, programs, functions, goals and objectives for the 37th Training Wing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Plans, organizes, and oversees all training and support activities for the 37th Training Wing.
Directs operations/activities and exercises management authority on behalf of the Commander over an extremely complex and diverse organization.
As senior civilian for 37th Training Wing, exercises higher level management responsibilities, to include serving as a higher level reviewer for civilian performance reports.
Represents the 37th Training Wing with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with Group Commanders, Wing Plans, Public Affairs, Safety, Protocol, Inspector General, Equal Opportunity, Information Protection, Chaplain, Judge Advocate, Command Post, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, Financial Management, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection, Protocol, Commanders Staff and CC action group.
