Requirements

In this role, you will perform skilled maintenance work throughout Gallitzin State Forest, including upkeep of forest roads, buildings, and picnic areas.

You will operate a variety of equipment such as trucks, truck-and-trailer combinations, snow groomers, graders, track loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, hand mowers, and lawn tractors.

You will also handle routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on assigned equipment to keep operations running smoothly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately April 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
    • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more: or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.


    Special Requirements:

    • You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.


    Conditions of Employment:

    • This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL).


    Other Requirements:
