Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting and customizing the EPIC electronic health record system for a county's health services, including configuring software, managing user access, and helping clinical teams improve their workflows.

You'll work closely with doctors, IT staff, and administrators to keep everything running smoothly in a hybrid office setup in Minneapolis.

It's a great fit for someone with healthcare IT experience who enjoys solving technical problems and communicating with different teams.

Key Requirements

  • Seven or more years of information technology experience, or an IT certificate plus five years of experience, or five IT-related college courses plus five years of experience
  • Healthcare domain knowledge, especially in clinical and behavioral health settings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude for configuring and troubleshooting EPIC modules
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including providers and IT staff

  • Willingness to work hybrid (on-site in Minneapolis and remote), with flexibility for evenings/weekends during upgrades

Full Job Description

Hennepin County's Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) IT admin division is seeking an EPIC Community Connect Analyst/Builder to join the team. HSPH operates several diverse clinical and behavioral health practices and provides crisis mental health services. These services are operated utilizing Hennepin Health (HH) System's electronic health record (EHR), EPIC, as a Community Connect site. Additionally, the team works closely with NorthPoint Health and Wellness with another Community Connection site. In this position, you will work directly with our practices and providers as well as with Hennepin Health system IT staff. We are looking for a candidate that has healthcare domain knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. With the growth of services, they are looking to build a Community Connect/in-house analyst to build a role across clinical, technical, and revenue areas.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at Hennepin Healthcare, 730 South 8th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415, various county buildings, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexible hours will be required during system upgrades or critical incidents. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot EPIC modules and related applications.
  • Manage user security and access controls in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and integration projects.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to analyze workflows and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including configuration guides and training materials.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for EPIC-related issues and escalate as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align hospital and county IT strategies.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Seven or more years of information technology experience.
    • An approved information technology certificate and five or more years of information technology experience.
    • Completion of five college/vocational/technical information technology courses and five or more years of information technology experience.
    • Completion of an approved Hennepin County IT internship and five or more years of information technology experience.
    • Associate/vocational/technical information technology degree and five or more years of experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field and two or more years of information technology experience.
    • Master's degree or higher in information technology and one or more years of information technology experience.

Nice to have:
  • EPIC certification in one or more modules.
  • Experience:
    • With EPIC applications in a healthcare setting or other ambulatory EHRs.
    • With healthcare data integration reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of:
    • EPIC modules, workflows, and security administration.
    • HL7 interfaces and interoperability standards.
  • Ability to:
    • Provide confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrate:
      • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
      • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
