Full Job Description

You will serve as a Environmental Engineer in the Environmental Office, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF, Pearl Harbor, HI The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions.

This position is subject to the hiring freeze.

Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.

For GS-0819-9 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical assistance on environmental requirements.

Examples may include identifying and resolving environmental problems through critical thinking, applying interpretation of regulatory statues or policy, performing site inspections, accurate data analysis and trending, or preparing regulatory correspondence and/or written procedures to implement environmental requirements.

For GS-0819-7 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical assistance on environmental requirements.

  • You will plan and carry out the successive steps and handle problems and deviations in the work assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted engineering or work practices.
  • You will apply engineering and environmental practices, requirements and knowledge of command processes to new or existing situations.
  • You will investigate and analyze a variety of problems, issues, processes, conditions and provide recommendations.
  • You will make independent decisions on technical matters which are based on sound guidance referring unusual or difficult problems together with proposed recommendations to the supervisor for clarification, evaluation or approval.
  • You will exercise limited judgement when applying a standard to a minor hazard, referring to the supervisor when situations require significant deviations from existing guidelines.
