Summary

This job involves overseeing environmental protection efforts in a naval shipyard setting, ensuring that operations follow federal and state laws to protect the environment, workers, and facilities.

You'll conduct inspections, review regulations, and coordinate with agencies to keep everything compliant and up to date.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENT DIVISION of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting inspections or surveys of environmental protection programs within an industrial environment (i.e.

shipyard, repair facilities, etc.) to recommend modification of operations and to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental protection laws and regulations.

  • You will plan, develop, implement, and administer an environmental program to ensure protection of the environment, facilities, and personnel.
  • You will determine whether environmental program practices comply with applicable standards and what requirements are needed to meet continuously changing regulations.
  • You will review laws, codes, and regulations promulgated by environmental control agencies at all levels and assess their impact on operations and real property.
  • You will prepare reports, plans, local instructions, guidelines and manuals.
  • You will periodically inspect on-site operation and maintenance procedures and record-keeping practices to ensure compliance with established policies.
  • You will participate in coordinating activities with municipal, state, regional, and federal environmental regulatory agencies.
