Full Job Description

Perform duties in specialized environmental management to detect, evaluate, abate, and control environmental compliance issues; conduct environmental compliance visits; provide compliance guidance and training to personnel managing SCARNG activities and facilities at McCrady Garrison. McEntire Joint National Guard Base, and the SCTAC AASF 2. Submit required Tier II reports for all facilities and work as recycling coordinator for McCrady Garrison. Provide technical assistance on compliance issues across the state, as necessary. Serve as sustainability POC for the compliance section. Provide technical advice as qualified expert in environmental compliance areas to the Adjutant General. This position is responsible to the Environmental Compliance Manager for all environmental compliance programs at these facilities to include turn-in, tracking, and reporting of waste disposal. Conduct inspections at all sites as required by environmental permits. Job requires the use of both federal and state equipment. Conduct routine visits of SCARNG facilities at McCrady Garrison, McEntire Joint National Guard Base, and statewide as required to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and provide training and technical assistance as necessary. Assist other compliance team members across the state as needed. Assist facilities with performing corrective actions from deficiencies noted during IPAS, EPAS, and inspections by outside agencies. Characterize Hazardous Waste (HW), prepare HW documentation IAW directed process tools, certify HW for shipment, and track HW manifests for designated facilities at McCrady Garrison, McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Responsible for multi-media environmental compliance training. Provide training CAA, CWA, SPCCP, RCRA-C, and SDWA. Position is also responsible for tracking at the facility level. Attend all required training in support of the Environmental Compliance Program annually. Prepare discharge monitoring reports, HW notifications for SQGs, air emission reports, storm water reports, and drinking water reports for the McCrady Garrison and SCARNG facilities at McEntire as required. Responsible for submission of EPCRA reports, Tier II reports, and HW notifications as required. Reviews and update SPCCPs as required. Responsible for ensuring required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual storm water inspections and underground storage tank inspections are conducted.

Requirements

A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid South Carolina drivers’ license.
