Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Quality Division of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

For the GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience independently meeting and coordinating with organizations and facilities to plan, design, and control technical and administrative procedures for response to accidents and emergencies.

Experience proactively identifying the need for new or improved facilities and/or equipment.

Experience coordinate acquisition, modification, and utilization of emergency response facilities and equipment. Experience evaluating organizational performance in drills and training exercises.

Experience identifying deficiencies and recommend or initiate corrective actions.

  • You will perform in-depth radiological controls assessments, audits, and surveillances of Shipyard departments to ensure that they are maintaining standards and conforming to NAVSEA requirements.
  • You will develop and continuously refining functional in-depth audit plans.
  • You will be responsible for the development of concepts, purchases, and maintenance of audiovisual and IT equipment in support of Emergency Control Center operations.
  • You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Radiological Emergency Response Organization Team Procedures.
